as you know, gasb has been working on revising the pension accounting rules. on june 16th they issued a preliminary views document. this is the first of a three step process: preliminary views, exposure draft and final statement.be-fore the Exposure draft there will be commentletters and (in october) three public hearings.

... in a time like now it might not take as much to be competitive but a pension (even a defined contribution pension) is a long term plan that needs to be competitive over the long term. the balance between being competitive and prioritizing fiscal needs is one that elected officials must decide.
